FCC Meet the Manager

February 22, 2010 3:22 PM
Nigel Quinton and Alison Steer at Harpenden station

Nigel Quinton and local councillor Alison Steer know just how angry Thameslink passengers are as a result of the continued disruption, and the inadequate and bureaucratic compensation offered by First Capital Connect.

Nigel Quinton, the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Hitchin & Harpenden, reminds Harpenden rail users that First Capital Connect will be holding a Meet the Manager event at Harpenden station on 24th February from 5 to 7.30 pm.

This follows Nigel's request at a meeting with top management at FCC on 2nd February.

"I now have confirmation that senior managers Neal Lawson, Michelle Smart and Tom Joyner will be there to answer questions from passengers," said Nigel, "and I hope that Harpenden commuters are able to make clear their feelings to FCC about the level of service disruption and the arrangements for compensation."

Nigel is also meeting this week with the Operations Director for FCC to discuss staffing levels on the service, of which he has been particularly critical.

"Relying on the goodwill of staff to work 8% of their rest days seems to me to be driven entirely by cost and adds additional and unnecessary fragility to the service."
