Hitchin & Harpenden Lib-Dems select Hannah Hedges as PPCPublished on Sat 10th Apr 2004
Hitchin and Harpenden Lib Dems have selected local campaigner Hannah Hedges as the Prospective Parliamentary candidate for the forthcoming general election. A former St. George's School pupil, Hannah has been an active campaigner for local residents since her school days. Hannah has lived in Harpenden for the last fourteen years, and works as a Liberal Democrat Parliamentary researcher, with responsibility for running an MP's office and advising on specific policy areas. An experienced campaigner, Hannah has fought for the Liberal Democrats both nationally and in her local area, on issues such as Education and Transport. Commenting on her selection Hannah said: 'There is a fantastic team of Liberal Democrat Councillors and activists in Hitchin and Harpenden, working hard for local people in the community and on the local Councils. Our next challenge is to elect a Lib Dem MP to work hard for local people at Westminster.' 'Only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservative Party in Hitchin and Harpenden. With the Conservative Party in confusion and disarray and with an increasingly discredited Labour Government, the Lib Dems have a real opportunity to give local residents a fair deal. I look forward to proving that there is a credible, keen and creative alternative to the current MP in Hitchin and Harpenden.' Gill Tattersfield, Chair of Hitchin & Harpenden Liberal Democrats says: " We are very excited about our new PPC. Hannah is a local candidate and a very active campaigner and we look forward to working with her to boost the Lib-Dem vote at the next general election."
